Step 1: Accreditation at the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Representative of media who has not obtained accreditation from the SBU previously, should send a letter on the official letterhead of his/her media with a request to provide certain staff (and if needed accompanying persons: photographers, cameramen, translators, fixers etc) with accreditation. The letter should contain contact phone number as well as period of intended stay in the ATO zone. The letter must be signed by the editor-in-chief and certified with a stamp (if applies). Along with the letter, please, send scans of 1-2 pages of passports of media representatives and scans of their press cards.
This set of documents (scans or pictures captured on the cell phones) should be submitted to the email of the SBU: firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, please, call at 38 044 255-51-86.
Step 2: Filing a press card in the ATO press center.
After receiving a preliminary accreditation form the SBU, the media representative should send a passport size photo, name and last name according to passport (in Latin alphabet and its equivalent in Cyrillic alphabet) and press card to email@example.com. Step 3. Obtaining a press card. Press card can be obtained in the following locations:
– ATO press center in Kramatorsk: Olexa Tychyi street 16B. Monday through Sunday from 08:00 to 20:00.
– Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in Kyiv: Povitroflotskyi street 6. For more information, please, call at 38 044 454 45 91
To receive the ATO press card, please contact the staff of the Ministry of Defense and inform about the intended date, time and location of collecting the card (ideally, call an hour in advance).
Tel. 38067-223-16-43 or 38 044-245-44-01. In Kyiv you can collect ATO press card between Monday and Friday from 09:00 to 18:00. On weekends and holidays it is impossible to collect the card in Kyiv.
When collecting the card, please, take with you an identification card. You can collect the ATO press card ONLY in person (no one else can collect it for you, not even fixers or translators).
Media representatives who have been accredited before (has an ATO press card) but the card expired (six months after its issue), has to contact the respective authorities again to renew the ATO press card.
When addressing the SBU in this case, please, state that you have been accredited before, state the number of the ATO press card that you had and submit the rest of the documents like the first time.
